Queer Newark Oral History Project


The Queer Newark Oral History Project is offering a 3-credit internship for undergraduates interested in history, women's studies, American studies, or queer studies. The Queer Newark Oral History Project is a community based initiative dedicated to documenting and preserving the history of LGBTQ persons in Newark. Interns will gain valuable experience in archival research, oral history interviewing, videography, blogging, and have the opportunity to  be a part of this exciting project that is sure to have a huge impact on the Newark community. All undergraduates are encouraged to apply and training is provided. This internship is for course credit and can be applied to a number of majors and minors.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with scholars and LGBTQ community leaders and to hear and preserve their stories. Be a part of this movement that seeks to uncover a deep and longstanding history of the diverse, vibrant queer community right here in Newark.
